Cost of fuel

Just a general excuse to have a moan but Just how much longer can the cost of petrol and diesel keep going up in price. I've seen diesel at almost £7.00 for just one gallon and petrol not coming in much cheaper...and still rising. It will soon be cheaper to run our cars on model glow fuel. ( Now there's a thought) Who would have thought it possible that a gallon of petrol would cost the same as a gallon glow fuel. ( convert to litres if you must but I still like to use old measurements ) I remember petrol at just 53p for a gallon of 2 star.
I think the Brits have proven to be a resilient and determined bunch when it comes to using our cars even though we are forced into paying such a high price for our fuel, but surely this situation can't be sustainable and how long before it starts to have noticeable and detrimental effects on the shows. Sadly, it's already effecting me and forcing me to only engage in a limited number of none essential car journeys.
Anyone else got any thoughts on the subject.....
Paul.

How about asking a friendly sprout farmer to make some bio-fuel? It might even make the exhaust sound a bit different! Could bring a whole new meaning to an "arty-farty" paint job.

it is certainly going to have an effect on the number and distance travelled to shows, flyins etc. There are many like me, who drive a large van, and pull a caravan, who will be factoring in the large amount of folding stuff for fuel...

I can remember getting married in 1968, and going on holiday to Devon in 1969, at that time I had a MK8 Jag, which had two fuel tanks with filler caps on both of the top rear wings. When I filled up to go, you got four gallons for a £1 then, and the Jag held 17 gallons of fuel, I also got a sheet of Green Shield Stamps that was like a roll of wallpaper!

Ha,ha, yes Tony really me, all of 22 years old, I even had hair then! great old car, I think it must have got scrapped because I saw another vehicle with that number plate. I paid £250 for it, and when I sold it in the seventies when the fuel crisis was on, I managed to sell it for £75! be worth a few bob now.
After that I moved on to American cars, here's a photo of my 1963 Dodge Dart Convertible, taken around 1973.
