Has anybody been brave enough this weekend???

Postby Dave Parry » January 19th, 2013, 2:58 pm

Hi all just thought I would try and get a conversation going on here as it seem to be a little quiet at the moment. So have any of you ventured out today, I have to say I have been a chicken and stayed indoors the thought of standing in 0˚ does not appeal to me  :o . But how about you have you braved the weather and gone flying today :?: If you have let us know or post a picture, let’s just see who has got what it takes.

I understand where you are coming from Alan, sat in the armchair myself trolling the internet board out of my mind, sick of the TV fed up of listening to the same songs on the radio but it is too cold to go in the shed. Hurry up Summer.

A few brave (or stupid?) souls including me braved the weather today at the local club. Nice flying off a snow covered strip but flights were restiicted to small electric models as no one fancied messing about with assembly or starting motors. Actually felt warmer than anytimne in the last week.
LMA2345 now that should be easy to remember!

Got 4" of snow here, but couldn't get out today.
However, going to an indoor flying session tonight, then out to the field tomorrow with skis fitted to my Magnatilla - hope no-one clears the runway of snow like they did last year

Just go an email from Steve Holland, which goes as follows.

Hi Dave

Just come back in from flying, quite warm with the correct gear! Skis fitted to the
Farmhand in about 10 minutes and away we went (I did cycle the batteries last week,
just in case) into the back paddock. Sharon was pit crew and photographer, she was
offered the transmitter but suggested I could fit skis to her Wot4 later. We had a
couple of flights and apart from a slight left turn in some of the softer snow all
was well. Now back inside with a mug of hot tea.

Cheers Steve

Morning Dave,
Other than Steve and Sharon, you are all a bunch of chickens "what will you do when the winter gets here"
I was out at 07 30 this morning in the nearly dark boosting up the tranny.

Here chicky chicky, I am still in the hen house, (sorry I couldn’t resist) Snowing again here in good old St.Helens and no one want to come out and play. So back to work in the morning without my weekend fix, boy am I going to be grumpy all week, watch out kids. :x :x

Did some indoor flying last night, but despite being ready to go this morning its snowed all day.
So in the best traditions of us Brits 'here's one I prepared earlier' -well, last year actually

No need to be brave in Fort William, the Spring plants are poping up. Sad doings nearby,, at Glencoe. 2012, only six foot+ of rain instead of the ussual 8 to 9+ feet of rainfall.

Safe travels guys
