The Ghost Squadron Presents "Cheddar 2018" 6th to 15th June

Postby John Greenfield » April 27th, 2018, 7:24 am

All

The first Ghost Squadron flying camp of the year, at Cheddar, is only a few weeks away now. There are still a few camping places available for anyone who wants to come and stay for a few days or even the whole week. Come and spend some time at this superb flying site. All types of models are welcome from free flight right through to turbines and of course tugs and experienced tow pilots will be available all week to tow ANY size glider.
The relaxed atmosphere and mix of models make this an ideal location for model flying.
Day pilots are also welcome.

All

Don't forget the Cheddar flying camp starts next Wednesday and runs through to the following Thursday. If you are not going to Southport, why not come along for a day (or more) for some nice relaxed flying on this magnificent site. A couple of camping spaces are still available but day pilots will be welcome any day. All types of models, large and small will be welcome.

Directions to the site :-

Please read and follow the directions to the site for a safe and trouble free journey. Do not follow your Sat Nav and avoid going into Charterhouse especially if driving a big vehicle or towing as the road from there to the site is unsuitable for such vehicles.

Directions
From the A38 Churchill traffic light junction take the A368 to Blagdon. After approx 1.5 miles turn right onto the B3134.
After 5 miles turn right at the crossroads onto the B3371
Just after passing the rifle range on your left turn right at the crossroads to Charterhouse (a small road !) follow the road up the hill for approx ½ mile and turn left into Warren Farm.
Drive along the access road into the farm yard and turn left through a gate into the field. Go directly across the first field aiming for the far gate to enter the camping and flying area.

Road signs are good along all of the route and clearly visible and marked with the road number

It is possible for people travelling from the south to access the site from Cheddar by driving up through the gorge but the road is quite tight, steep and with lots of tight bends with cars parked on the sides of the road so is not recommended if driving a large vehicle or towing a trailer / caravan.

See you there ?

It starts tomorrow !!!!
We are already preparing the site and trimming the grass on the runway.
The farmer has built a new access road across to the flying area so please use it. After coming through the farmyard and across the cattle grid please turn left and follow the new road around the edge of the field to the gate in the far left corner. Go through the gate into the field we fly from.
Please don't forget to shut the gate once you have passed through and don't follow the old route and drive across the middle of the field

Day pilots most welcome but if you decide to camp over we can still fit you in...Just turn up and enjoy some relaxed flying on this fantastic site. All types of model welcome, big and small.

See you all there ?

The Ghost Squadron
