44th BG model aircraft memorial event Shipdham airfield Norfolk

Postby Philip Goff » September 18th, 2022, 6:17 pm

Details,
There is a clubhouse with a verander, plus there are toilet facilities.
The runway is long and smooth (03/21) and there is a grass area for gear up landings
and there is also ample parking area. It is a bit rough driving onto the airfield but
it is worth it to have the use of such a smooth runway. Which is suitable for any model.

Can you let me know if you would like to attend please,
So that we can gauge the interest.

The event will be called, The 44th BG model aircraft memorial event.
Shipdham airfield (near East Dereham) Norfolk. Friday the 30th of September 2022.
Road between Dereham and Watton The postcode for Shipdham airfield seems
to be out of date. This postcode will get you to the King's Head cafe
Turn at King's Head cafe onto Letton Road.
Follow that road for one mile airfield sign on left.
Follow track and signs do not drive on runway please.
Thank you

The Shipdham event is going ahead.
The weather is not the greatest but we need to get a foothold at this site.
It is not everyday you get offered the use of a smooth runway.
If things go well tomorrow it will set us up for some events there next year.
So I am hoping some people will come along.
If we could have WW1, WW2, aerobatic, jet and gremlins even if it is just one
model per category. To show these people how good modelling can be.

We have a 1500ft exemption for models up to 25Kgs.

One of the members at the Shipdham flying club has gone above
and beyond the call of duty to help get this event on.
Tomorrow he is now going to lay on tea and coffee for us plus he is
also going to give hangar tours. Plus there could be another tour
which is not confirmed yet. This would be of huge interest to the WW1 buffs.

So if you live close or even not so close could you consider coming along please,
so we can get this event off the ground. The gate will be open at 8:30am.

Thank you.
