This 25Kg Walrus 5.33:1 scales was first flown in November 2017. Law dictates a CAA qualified pilot must fly it. Dave Johnson (LMA chairman) was kind enough to do this.
It is built of aluminium tube and sheet 'fleshed out' with poly foam; it is all water resistant, electric powered and has about 10 minutes endurance. It has to accumulate 1 hour of flying before release from CAA supervision.
It was built by a one-time ARB licensed engineer (not having built a flying model for 60 years and unaware of the 20Kg rule) as a form of therapy after a heart attack. Now aged 84, four more years would pass before 1 hour of flying is achieved as good wind and water condition must prevail within range of home, but more importantly the CAA qualified pilot must also be available. Hence the desire to sell.
I would like to recover the cost of Hacker A80-10 motor; four Hacker Top Fuel 5000 batteries, Masterpin 170 controller, all charging equipment and Futaba T7C radio equipment totalling £2,000. A tailored trailer is thrown in if near asking price is offered. The plane is free.
Also a 53cc Saito radial glow engine (bench run only) but thought not powerful enough for this model. £1,000 o.n.o.
