1/3 Scale Albatros D.Va replicating a striking paint scheme in the colors of Offstv. Adolf Schreder. These Jasta 17 aircraft featured a white tail area near the vertical stabilizer and a black rudder as well as the colourful and rather effective 5 color Lozenge fabric camouflage applied to the wings and a striking lightning stripe down the fuselage.
This model is built from a Arizona models kit,the Fuselage and wings are built from balsa and ply construction also the fuselage is covered in 3/32 obechi veneer over the balsa sheets to replicate the real plane with overlapping panels and seems then burned with a soldering iron to replicate brass rivets. The wings, tail, rudder and ailerons are all covered in solatex fabric simulated rib stitching is covered in ripped solartex rib tapes. The dummy engine is removable to access the motor area fuel tank etc, and covers a DA 85 engine with a custom muffler for a true scale appearance. All the servos are Hitec HS-5685, the rudder and elevator are using a pull pull system made from bicycle gear cables for secure strength with no slop or stretching.
All control surfaces are scale hinged and removable for maintenance, the rigging wires are also made up from bicycle gear wire and 3 mm scale brass turnbuckles.
The cockpit is scratch built and fully detailed, the seat and other cockpit parts are removable to access hidden linkages and servos for rudder and elevator.
This plane is almost ready to fly.
