Sold subject to collection next week - many thanks.

I have a Pat Teakle 5 metre ASW17 for sale in Cambridge

I am hoping to go to one day of the Buckminster Aerotow Event this weekend (probably Saturday). If so I could bring it by prior arrangement.

Although it flies beautifully as it is, to be honest it is a bit scruffy and would benefit from some TLC!

As far as I can see it has never had any major crash damage but as the wings are fully glassed I can't be certain. Wings and fuselage have been brush painted and would certainly benefit from a serious rub down and refinishing!

The wings have been built with both airbrakes and flaps although currently I am not using the flaps and they are held fixed at zero by an additional incidence pin which could easily be removed. However there is provision in the fuselage for a flap servo in the new servo, battery and receiver tray I constructed.

They are the older type wings with bowden cables driving the ailerons and airbrakes. I have fitted low profile servos in the root end of the wings which drive them nicely. You could I suppose do the same for the flaps but they have clearly been driven from the fuselage in the past.

I have fitted a Multiplex aerotow release in the nose.

The wing mounting is non standard. Each wing has a substantial laminated stub about 80mm long and 30 mm cross section. They plug into a square metal box inside the fuselage then a 6mm hardened steel pin locks each into place. It got a serious stress test in an aerotow tangle last year and was absolutely fine. Having seen a friend's ASW17 bend the normal metal wing joiners in a similar situation this is probably an upgrade!

The non retractable wheel has a very soft tyre and really needs replacing. I do however have a suitable retract unit I could offer you if you wish.

The canopy currently fitted is badly broken and taped up. However I have a brand new canopy for it that needs fitting. (This alone would cost £40 or more from Pat Teakle gliders).

There is currently no cockpit detail. I was intending to build one before fitting the new canopy.

I had in mind £120 for the airframe (inc new canopy). An additional £60 if you want the seven servos leaving in (that would be a bargain as there are two decent HiTec digitals on Elevator and Rudder, I mid sized HiTec ball raced on tow release and four HobbyKing digital low profile wing servos. I would include the new Eneloop battery pack and heavy duty switch with the servos.

If you wanted to upgrade the undercarriage I have a suitable retract unit for a further £20.

I feel it is really good value at the above so I am not open to offers other than maybe a pro rata adjustment if you wanted some of the servos but not others.

Given that the wing joiners are not removable, keep in mind that each wing is 2.5 meters. The fuselage is 1.9 m from the tow release to the back of the rudder. That is my main reason for selling as it is difficult to transport with any other models in my car. Unless we meet at Buckminster this weekend it would have to be collected from Cambridge. I am about 1 mile from a junction on the A14.
