Amazingly quick reaction by the BBD pilot by all accounts to get out in time for the chute to deploy. And the brick outhouse build of the Skyraider was demonstrated again - looks as if he still had all the stbd aileron despite losing a chunk of stbd wing in front of it.
Some witnesses are saying the Skyraider's wing tip hit the underside of the P51 at the rear of the radiator scoop (apparantly where all the control runs are).
Most important of all, no-one injured.

Pleased that all crew and everyone on the ground were OK. The same sort of luck with the Mustang pilot as with the pilot and jump seat crewman on board the Shooting star which crashed on take off at Duxford and exploded in bits and flames a year or two ago.

Looks like the wingtip was snagged by the BBD tailplane from the video.

Thankfully all air crew ok but sad loss of BBD. Hopefully the Skyraider is repairable.

How sad that these two vintage aircraft collided but thank God there were no fatalities. It must be a great sadness to Bob Davies to loose his old BBD as he had owned and operated this aircraft sucessfully for many, many years. Although a mangled wreckage, no doubt once the insurance have paid out it may be rebuilt again as they do with so many vintage aircraft wrecks, they sure do work miracles at Duxford, and at many of the other aicraft restoration facilities, also a bit gut wrenching for the German owner who purchased it earlier this year!
