The decision was made yesterday ( Saturday 1st October) by The Midlands Large Model Flying Group not to host a public show event here at Catton Hall Park for 2012.
The reasons are many and varied but essentially it is a matter of the limitations placed upon many of our members by their age. This, in addition to the struggling economy, the cost of fuel etc etc and in our opinion, there are perhaps enough, if not too many model shows within the central region of the country already. It has become clear over the past two years that the Catton Park Show would not be able to survive as just a dedicated model event.
We would like to offer our sincerest thanks to all those LMA members who were actively involved with the running of the flying side of the two previous events and to those of whom otherwise supported the event both this year and last.
Some good news though. Plans to put the Catton Park Garden Party style Fly-In weekend back onto the LMA Events calendar are already being put into place. Discussions between ourselves and your LMA events team members for the fully supported LMA Catton Park Garden Party style fly-in have recently commenced and it is hoped that a weekend date can be announced shortly. Without the public show organisation processes to drain us of our time and energies you can be assured that we will do our very best to ensure that you have a really great weekend here at Catton next year.
Paul Savage.
