Has anyone had any problems with HS-805BB+ high power servos? We replaced an 805 servo with the same type, this proved to be unnecessary in the end as the original was ok, but the replacement servo failed after a very short time.Investigation found the motor had gone short circuit. This was replaced with another new one which again failed after a short time, motor fault again. Both servos were bought from the same reputable shop. We know you are all going to say "servo overload" but this was not the case as under test the second servo heated up with its arm disconnected and 6 volts supply, current drawn when operating less than 800ma. Our suspicions are that these may be very accurate cloned copies that have found their way onto respected markets. On close inspection the suspect servos have subtle differences from our original ones that have been totally trouble free. The product label on the top of the case on the genuine unit has a clear film peel-off cover on it, the clone does not. The genuine case has a stick-on check label under the mounting lugs on one end, the clone does not. The genuine case has a 'how to dispose of' instruction molded into its base and, of course, the suspect one does not. No blame is being allocated but if our findings are correct it will be useful to anyone using these servos to beware and check before using.
