It has come to my attention that, despite me asking members to contribute to the journal many of you never consider it, even though you spend hours writing up your builds threads with pictures on other forums. Now I do appreciate that there is some sort of gratification when others comment on your building skills and the like and that it is instant. However these build threads are short lived and fade from memory for most as fast as they appear.
So consider this, an article in the Journal can get you just as much praise when your fellow modellers meet up with you, you can explained better with the pictures, without anybody jumping in on your build before you have finished posting your update, it will be printed as a permanent reminder of you achievement and will reach the other half of the membership that don't embrace 21st century technology, it will also reaches none members as the journal is sold on the LMA Trade stand throughout the summer season.
Now the other main reason I get is I can't write an article, I wouldn't know where to start, this seems to be the favourite phrase. I always fine this one strange, you have already done a build thread on several forums including ours at times and yet you don't know where to start!!
So here is a brief from me to give you all an idea of what I want and need for a Journal article.
What I need:
Well this is up to you, you can do it as one article or you can split it up into two or three parts. How much detail you put into it is up to you, all I ask is you let me know what picture goes with what part of you build. if you want to lay it out yourself in MS Word (windows) or Pages (Mac) I will do my best to reproduce it the same in the Journal. The more you put into it the easier it is for me.
Format:
The pictures can be Jpeg or Png, size doesn't matter but you might want to keep an eye on that if you intend sending it me by email. The writing can be in MS Word (Windows) or Pages (Mac) as I can convert it.
Time:
This is again up to you, all's I need to know is if you are going to do it and when you think you will have it ready, that way I can plan what issue it's going in. Please don't feel under pressure to get it done, I do plan thing in advance to keep the articles coming in.
So there you have it I hope I haven't put you off, please let me know if this is something you would now consider doing , it is not as hard as you think.
Also I am looking for (and this is a long shot I know)some regular contributors who would like to do a series of articles on different aspect of modelling. whether it be their own experience or techniques they use when modelling, particular products they find useful that you might not associate with the hobby, or a combination of all.
Please, please, please consider having a go, you never know until you try.
