HP to thrust Calculations DLE 170cc Twin

Postby derek pickup » September 14th, 2014, 6:10 pm

Hi,
I am considering purchasing a DLE 170cc for a new project but I need to calculate, or know what static thrust if it will produce before purchase, to ensure it is up to the task. I'm looking for a thrust to weight ratio for the aircraft of about of about 2/3rds. If any one has a DLE 170cc and has measured the thrust I would be very grateful. Also any advice/comments on the suitability of this engine would also be appreciated. On my previous aircraft I have calculated the thrust by simply attaching a heavy duty spring gauge to the tail and running up the engine to full power. Well why make a task more difficult than it needs to be.

I look forward to you help

Thanks Robbie. The "Static Thrust Calculator" has given me enough information to make a decision on. Once purchased the engine will go on the test bed to confirm the thrust output. Greatly appreciate your response. Derek
