Robert Mahoney

Postby Vincent Raia » March 12th, 2015, 11:08 am

Just found out Tuesday at our Bickley Club Night, that that day was the day of the funeral of Robert Mahoney, or Bob to us that knew him.

Bob (Mr. Electric) Mahoney was a stalwart member of the BMFA, and served on the London Area for many years, was also an Area Chief Examiner, and the West London Safety Officer.

Bob was one of the early pioneers of Electric flight, along with his sidekick Dave Chinnery.
One of Bob's most well known models in the mid 1990's was his large electric "Spirit of St. Louis".

Bob also ran the popular Middle Wallop fly-ins. and attended many LMA events and the Nats, taking lots of photographs, as that was his other hobby.

Condolences to his wife and family

Always enjoyed bumping in to Bob at various events and sharing banter. A real shame, he'll be missed.

I'm really sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Had a grand 'chinwag' with him at Gaydon and he was kind enough to send some archive materials on the SuperConnie'. I seem to recall that he wasn't in the best of health that day.

Another of the old modelling stalwarts gone............

Condolences to family and friends.
