Get Well Soon

Postby Neil Dixon » August 14th, 2015, 8:57 am

Just to let you all know that our long time LMA member Gordon Whitehead is quite ill. Gordon was admitted to Darlington memorial hospital last week but is now recovering at home with Morag.
Gordon had no intention of seeing a doctor after a recent fall, (typical Gordon) he was determined to go to the Elvington show on the DDMFC bus. The bruising was quite severe and Morag made him see his doctor.
The result was that he was admitted to Hospital with a very low blood count. The diagnosis was that Gordon was not producing red blood cells, platelets.
Although Gordon is at home he is still quite poorly and understandably feeling low that he cannot spend time in his beloved workshop.
If you would like to wish him well please PM myself and I will forward his address.
A card would be nice as email etc. is not Gordon’s thing.
Get well soon Gordon and best wishes to Morag as this is also a very stressful time for her too.
Kind Regards,
Neil Dixon
Chairman Darlington and district MFC
Incidentally this is not a request by Gordon and Morag but I feel it should be known by the LMA membership – who have many years of help from them both.

Gordon Whitehead
Dear Members,
Just an update on Gordon following another fall and a broken hip. Gordon has moved from the Darlington Memorial hospital and is currently in the Richardson Hospital Barnard Castle.
He was in good form yesterday and determined to get mobile, however he has the early signs of dementia and may need to go into care after leaving the Richardson hospital.
Morag is bearing up well with the support from family and members from the Darlington and District Model Club.
I am sure you will all join me in wishing Gordon well in his recovery.
Regards
Neil

Have just spoken to Morag in the last hour and she's thrilled about the progress Gordon's making; great news indeed!

Aye, that is indeed good to hear!
LMA Secretary - I've got a reasonable idea where you live!
