Sticky Wing Joiner

I have a ply wing joiner which must have swollen a bit in the shed. Need to sand it down a bit but wondered if there is anything I can "lubricate" the wood with to make it slide in and out easier?

It will have absorbed moisture. Place it somewhere hot and dry but keep it clamped between some timbers to stop it warping. Then the candle wax as Phil says.
