Zenaoh 38 with reduction drive- alternative

Postby Rodney Parson » March 7th, 2025, 11:49 am

Hello all.

I have a project Gary Allen Tiger moth. Not started the build yet

I notice that same size Toni Clarke tiger moth has the recommended power plant as being the Toni Clarke a Zenoah 38 with with reduction drive.

Looking at the Toni Clarke website, it looks pretty dead.
I emailed them about a year ago and didn’t get a reply- further confirming they are gone.

So does anyone use a zenoah 38 with the reduction drive, or do you think that is just old technology and a modern 50cc four stoke would be the modern alternative

I see Saito do a 50cc four stroke and Valach do a 60cc four stroke.

I’ve also seen Gaui 50cc on the Probuild website.

Has anyone used any of the above engines?

I’m assuming they would be similar power to a Z 38 with reduction drive.

Regards

Ask Phil at fighter aces, Tony died, but I think the company’s still going, shame if they are not,

Hello
I phoned fighter aces and spoke to a chap there.

Very helpful, and he is able to get the Zenaoh 62. He said that if I can stretch to it, to get the valach 60.

He had replaced customers Zenoah 38 with reduction units for a valach 60 engines.

He said even the valach 60 can be a bit noisy and recommend a matching pitts type silencer.

Best start saving
