Hi
I have been following the 2.4 radio debate with interest.One of the things that puzzle me is that all of the 2.4 radio debates ( in the now locked form ) and technical questions coming in seem to relate to JR/Spectrum.
Is any one out there using Futaba 2.4 with its one reciver and ( dare i ask) how would this fit in to the over 20kg requirements.
I would be interested in your comments.

i fly futaba 2.4ghz, and i would say that as a minimum a 20+ kg model would need 2 rx's

i fly 2.4ghz Futaba on my Greenly and Lowley models each only has one RX. As Nick says i would treat a 20kg+ model as you would if you were setting one up on 35meg and use two RX's

Arthur--the other replies are correct--the basic requirements would be as 35meg--just two seperate receiver systems and the control surfaces split---but when you register your build with Tony,your appointed inspector will explain all this to you.There have been discussions in the last couple of weeks on updating the requirements ,and once the final wording has been agreed it will be published once all the inspectors have been informed,but the basic requirements will stay the same--hope this helps--DAVE

I use a Futaba 10CAP 2.4...very pleased with it. Rx's are good and solid, never had an issue with range etc....My P-38 had a couple of interferrance issues on 35mhz....Futaba 2.4 sorted them out completely.

Go for two Rx's for over 20kg stuff and you'll have one of the best systems going......

Hi Flyers sorry if I seem thick! I justed joined the forum I am myself a b flyer and will hopefully get my A test and then large model test or go for the large model and bypass the A test hich is evereasier but however on the radio subject over 20kg need 2 recievers I wonder how do u actually join the 2 recievers??
the basic set up for 2 or more recievers is beyond me! any advice and pics of the layout of the wirings from recievers to etc would be helpful

2 rx's is easy to explain like 2 cars sitting next to eachother. the rx's both listen to the one tx. a car's radio does the same, listens to one station at a time, yet both cars are totally separate. same idea with rx's, they are totally separate but both listen for the same signal

If you are a member of the LMA you could put a Post on here for Dr Keith Mitchell to send you his Flyer on Radio installation this will show you in diagrams how to join 2 Tx's

But as i said it is only available to LMA members.

ah right well yes I will join the LMA next year I am keeping a close eye for information on here as I want to build a couple large models etc right got the idea of 2 recievers using same tranny but the connections baffle me etc use one servo for alireon and using y wire to both recievers correct? or separate shoehorns on the alieron and serperate servos etc?? that is the question I am interested.

also what is the recommended servos for large models or any servo will do?? sorry if this question is in the wrong posting??? I am a newbie on this.

basically one rx operates on half side of the aircraft eg no1 rx operates left aileron, right elevator, rudder & choke. no2 rx operates right aileron, left elevator and throttle.

have you built and flown a small large model(??) if you know what i mean? something like a greenley, lowley, genesis, or sky120 with a petrol engine?? all of these models would be good test beds for learning all the different aspects of larger models without getting to complex

yes have flown many planes for years and stopped and coming back and thinking of large models etc but dong reserach now. i had wot 4, and funfly and yamototo and currently have spitfire, extra 300 and sopwith etc but all under 7kg and use one reciever for all controls. never came across 2 recievers one for left alerion and thottle etc and the second for the other half mmm yes used petol engine I converted a old trimmer weedeater lite 28cc and it runs fine

Dave thanks for the links will check them out now. hope to build a large spitfire. then a nice lancaster! but my first thing is get b licence and lma profinecy etc

my current spitfire is 6ft wingspan and it is 7.01kg and flown it many times under the watchful eye from my old intructor years ago Archie Jones miss him now nowdays i won't be allowed to fly it until I pass the b test oops! hehe soon sort that out in the summer hopefully!
