Postal Scam.

This has been sent to me by an ex police officer in my family. If you, like me, are always looking for modelling parcels to come- beware !!


Postal Scam:

Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655.


My wife has just told me there has been a warning about this on BBC Radio Solent (we do speak sometimes!!)

This scam is over 5 years old and the number was discontinued back then.....anyone want to check and see if this is a different number?

I just saw same warning on my email yesterday. It would be very easy to be sucked in by it. The only real clue is the use of PREMIUM NUMBERS -- avoid them like the plague !

Andy is right this is a very old scam, the following cut and copy is from http://www.hoax-slayer.com with which I always check these urban myth style warnings.
Put the address in your favourites, it can save a lot of unnecessary worry.

Hoax slayer Analysis:
This email warning has been circulated since the end of 2005. Recent submissions indicate that the warning is once again rapidly gaining momentum. The information in the message was mostly factual. However, the particular scam described in the message was shut down at the end of 2005 and the information is no longer relevant. The continued forwarding of this warning to others is now pointless and counterproductive.
