orange hellcat

Hi
Being ready to paint my f6f Hellcat I have been looking for colours there than shades of blue, and came across a photo showing a group of hellcats all painted orange.some with a different colour fin .All with enter drop tanks and showing U.S. markings
Before i get brave enough to turn up at our field with a orange Hellcat i would like to find out about the reason for this colour and wondered if any one could help?

they where indeed tired airframes kitted out for target practise, let us know when the test flight is, and we will come down and add to the realism, NOTE, double barrels only, NO pump action
