Brian Spoor 1931 -2011

Postby Keith Mitchell » April 14th, 2011, 10:23 pm

It is with deep regret that I have learned this evening that Brian passed-away peacefully in hospital, on Wed. 6th April, aged 80.

Sadly, I was informed of this 3rd hand and it appears that no-one in LMA circles was aware of either his death, or, his funeral which took place yesterday. Regrettably therefore, there was no LMA representation to pay respects to an individual who had a huge influence on the establishment of the LMA as it's Secretary from 1982 till 1993. His hand is writ large in the Constitution and his legal counsel and acumen had a profound effect on the development of the LMA, formal links with the CAA and the establishment of our main event at Cosford in 1992.

I am sure that a fitting obituary will appear in the Journal in due course -----.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

Hi Keith I am sorry to hear he has passed away, and even more sorry the LMA didn’t know about it, as I didn’t get to know him, and it seem you knew him well I think it would be fitting if you could do him the honour for the Journal.

Be very happy to, Dave. I think probably Jeremy will want to pen something, too, as they worked very closely as founding Chairman/Secretary in those less than easy years establishing the Association.

Keith, my sadness to learn of the passing of such a gentleman. Ron ( mate ) knew him quite well and will be saddened by the news as are we all.
