for some time--there have have been complaints from members about having to join the BMFA /SAA to join a club or fly at an event---this was partly solved 2 years ago by an associate agreement with the LMA /SAA ,where a member can join either ssociation for all the benefits, but they only pay and use the insurance of your main association---this has worked great and we have just resiged the agreement for a further 5 years.
Yesterday, after our annual meeting with the CAA down at London, the BMFA/LMA/SAA took the opportunity to discuss this situation of affilated clubs and insurance etc---there have been many uninformed comments on other forums which do none of us any good, for this reason the 3 associations have put out a press release on the stop press page here. There will be more meetings and discussions before any further agreement can go ahead but the final goal is to be able to be part of any association that you want without having to pay for the same insurance cover twice---- watch this space
