Flair Hannibal

Postby peter copeland » January 11th, 2012, 9:27 pm

I am new to this forum and im hoping for some advice. I have recently got a Flair Hannibal.I purchased the plane already built and it came fitted with a Super Tigre S2000 25cc.
This is my first, large model,i have a Wot 4 and a Hanger 9 Pulse XT40.The advice i am hoping for is regards to servos. I contacted Flair and they told me standard servos are fine in this model,ie,Futaba 3001s etc.I know that this is a slow flying aeroplane, but was just a little concerned that these servos will not be strong enough. Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Also, does anybody have any experience/tips regarding the Hannibal, how she flys etc.

Peter, welcome to the LMA forum.I have flown several of these for members, and they are a nice gentle trainer type aircraft, ideal for a first large model, the ones i have flown have had Zenoah petrols in,but the S/T will be fine if you set it up for reliability rather than outright power. This model will be fine on standard type servos, but if you havnt purchased them ,the next ones up would be better on Elevators, you can never overpower !!! The LMA trainer, similar size and more aerobatic,is powered on standard servos and a 38cc petrol, and after many many hours around shows over the last 2 years ,its been utterly reliable with no blowback etc ---i would ensure that linkages are good with no slop, and split elevators if not already done---hope this helps and you get many happy hours flying it---DAVE

regarding your ST 2000-25, they have their own fuel, Big Brute, its by Model Tchnics, google it, various model emporiums should have it regarding the hannibal, biggest problem with that one is that HUGE wing, beggar to transport!!

Many thanks Dave for the fast reply. The Hannibal is fitted with split elevators. I do have a set of new Hitec HS 325 HB servos which i think are similar to the s3001s.I also use Spektrum radio. One other question if i may, what batteries would you use,4.6or 6v?
Regarding fuel,i purchased some big brute today so im glad i got that right. As to transporting,i can just fit it in my car,but have to remove the wheels as its just slightly too high to close the boot.

Just one more question if i may. I was watching some videos of scale WW1 aeroplanes and saw an Eindecker with a smoke system. I have always liked the idea of a smoke system and was wondering if it would be possable, and if so,would it look right on my hannibal to fit such a a system?
