Hi Martin, I was going to put it on last month’s front page but found better ones to show, as you say great plane but lot to be desired with the Piloting skills, fun to watch though.

What a waste of a brilliant plane
He's spent hours building it, but it gets wrecked every flight
He's obviously got too much money
It's sad too see

Ok rant over;-)

I think that you guys are being unkind on two counts,an own designed and made model is considerably cheaper to build than a purchased ARTF. For my latest model, an Ercoupe,I had only to buy glue and wire for the airframe, all the rest came from my scrap box.In other words he does not have to be wealthy to design and build a complex model. The second point, have you ever tried taking off and landing on water?it is not easy.Your take off position and the wind are usually fixed. You want to try and taxi out downwind,in choppy water, turn around into wind and take off towards yourself. Not easy.I think the pilot did quite well considering.

That may well be but the evidence piles up if it is the same pilot flying the Betty bomber...........awful take off and a worse landing!

nice models, could be bad pilot, but looking at he betty, he could have ahad a hard cross wind, sense would have had the pilot bring the throttles back, but having seen exactly the same over here, as for th4e seaplane, its about 1/3rd scale, the sea was full scale, with a chop, who are we to judge?

Look carefully at the first clip and you will see the wind direction evident, and not a lot of it. The water also tells a full story to most pilots and perhaps even more so to waterplane flyers. I would be very happy indeed to fly off of water as nice as that. Other problems there may have been, I cannot actually note any with the models, perhaps I need to repeat the video a lot ??
