hi all,

I seem to have acquired a second Zenoah 38. now at present both engines are spoken for in different models but I have started thinking about future projects and need some suggestions for the pair of them. my son has decided we 'need' a bomber but im open to any suggestions including sport/non scale models. is there a suitable sized plan out the for a Manchester? I might also be open to build/flown airframes.

Don't know of a Manchester plan.....................but other possibles for a pair of 38's are

Ziroli 118" B-25 Mitchell
Ziroli 114" P-61 Blackwidow
Ziroli 114" P-38 Lightning
Ziroli 114" Beechcraft B-18

.....all 4 are well proven fliers on a pair of 38's.

Go for the Manchester, there's plenty of Lancaster plans out there. I'm sure the fuselage is the same I think the wing is just a bit smaller. You could use the Lancaster ribs an just get someone to cut a foam wing at the right size.

over night ive had a vague memory that steve Holland had/has a Manchester. I seem to remember him flying it at castle kennedy. he also had an anson (also another option) at the time too

How about a C46, I haven't seen one modelled before.

We have built and flown the 118" B25 and the 140" DC3, both fly absolutely perfect with a pair of Zenoah 38's.

They are both zirolis, both have flown very very well, the motors stick out, but are not really noticable, and both look fantastic, both build threads are on here, so you can see what they take to build,

Also have a look at Ice Pilots on the telly for great footage of the C-46 as well as DC3, DC4 and Lockheed Electra being operated over in Canada

perhaps a Don Smith Tigercat advertised on this site may be a good idea, would save some of the building and has been available for ages so perhaps you can offer the owner some beans or something appropriate, i see from his add he may be adverse to brussel sprouts.

I also do have a miles aerovan at 1/5 scale so if you want a biggish twin 3D Aerovan let me know, will of course be able to idle around the sky on those engines.

Sorry Dave - no change. Have also tried another image with the same message.

Have you resized it, max pic size is 600x600 on here, I have just tried one and it worked.

Let's try again! OK. It looks as though that image has loaded.

It's all water under the bridge now but my suggestion for a Zenoah 38 twin is the Airspeed Ambassador. It's English, beautiful, efficient, and not military.

If i remember rightly Don Imrie now owns the Manchester Steve had. It was at Strathaven this year.

Its a nice model. My 2p on this would be to try to incorporate two 38s in a JU-52. You could get a nice scale size with two of them and either a dummy middle prop or a small electric motor.
