Wing Fixing on Parasol Plane

Postby Steve McDonald » July 21st, 2014, 2:06 pm

I was given this aircraft with a view to the owner seeing it fly, very generous. However I have a query. There are two wing joiners for the wings to slide onto and struts underneath as fixings, there is no other fixing for the two wings and there is no reinforcement at the roots where I could screw a plate onto and the wings move a bit at the centre section. I don't want to screw into the top and bottom spars for fear of compromising the structure. The end on shot shows the standard configuration of the wing. Surely it's not just the lift under the wings that hold them in place! I don't know what the aircraft is but believe it was built from an American plan. Any advice would be most welcome, both on what to do to fix the wings securely and on what type of aircraft it is.

Cheers

Steve
