Mossie Retracts

Postby Jack Kennedy » May 17th, 2015, 3:31 pm

I have a 72" Mossie, I think it's a CMP D240 model, it had two 42 glow engines in it, will be converting to leccy, this should not be a problem, I hope.

The retracts that were in it are in my opinion no longer fit for purpose,(a nice set of air retracts would be the dogs) my problem at the moment is I am finding it a bit of a pain to find retracts suitable for this size and make of model, if my engineering skills were about 10 levels higher than they are now I supose I could knit a new pair.
( more metal would be wasted than put together).

any help or advice ( other than bin it) would be a big help.

You could try Unitracts they used to make a set for around this size model.

Hi Jack,
I would contact them and see if they could make you a slightly smaller set? They made a set for my 124" Mosquito by scaling the smaller units up.

Sean.

I had a set of Unitracts made for a Brian Taylor 71" Mosi that I built and converted to electric. They are extremely heavy and with the weight of a 4s 5000ma battery plus two speed controllers and two G46 motors I have never dared fly it due to the wing loading. I've never weighed it, it just feels wrong even though it required no ballast at all for the CofG.

Try these, for the nijhuise 72" lancaster http://www.tonynijhuisdesigns.co.uk/Ret ... ectric.htm

Check the oleo length, it may be that the company that makes them may do you a bespoke set, the lanc is 72 inch, but the wrong scale for your mossy, please tell them the LMA sent you :D
