Very Sad News

It is with very great regret that I have to report the passing away this evening of Harry Harland. Local member Iain McKenzie found him collapsed in his home and paramedics were unable to revive him.

It is no understatement to say that he was one of the most popular members ever to grace our Association.

His smile, gentle wit and charm, notwithstanding his wonderful modelling skills, shone like a beacon to us all.

A light has gone out in the world.

Godspeed Harry - our lives have been the richer for knowing you.

Very sad news indeed Keith. Although I didn't know Harry very well, I'd spoken to him on a number of occasions and he was always a jovial and helpful character and a superb modeller.

RIP Harry

I had a long conversation with Harry two day's ago, regarding the book he was writing about his modelling history, and our formation of THE YORKSHIRE OLE FARTS TEAM. The rest of us will miss him very much. Happy landings Harry.

Wow! what a shock, I have spent many a good evening with H and the Tony into the wee hours at shows they could leave us all standing with the old tipple or too. his favourite saying was 'will you miss me when am gone' the answer Harry is yes, we will all miss you.

R.I.P Harry

I've known Harry for over 20yrs. and during that time we became great friends, flying our Turbulants together and having some brilliant weekends, Withensea as guests of Ian & Doreen was definitly one not to be missed. We phoned each other at least every other week and were always gassing for just under an hour I hate to think how many bottles of whisky we saw off between us in that time, I'm going to miss Harry an a lot,
R.I.P. Old friend..................

This is very sad news to hear. I only met Harry at various LMA events, he was always welcoming, full of enthusiasm about his aeroplanes and happy to share his knowledge. He must have explained his litho methods to me several times before it began to sink in. Harry epitomised the spirit of the LMA and is a great loss.

Condolences to his family and friends. Blue skies Harry.

I too had the call from Iain last night & am still somewhat lost for words.

It was truly an honour to have called Harry a friend. He was one of the very best & will truly be missed.

Rest in piece my friend

That really is sad news, I was "unfortunate" only to know Harry over the last 5-6 years but want an absolute gentleman ! I have fond memories of East Kirby when he treated me and Ken Dallow to a one man concert on his harmonica, and he would always have a tip to help you bash some lithoplate into shape,, he certainly was a Top Bloke,,
