Miles Aircraft Model Sponsorship

Postby Rob Buckley » February 18th, 2017, 7:51 pm

Message received below. If anybody is seriously interested, please let me know and I'll put you in touch...

My wife much enjoyed watching a video of Steve Rickett's model of the Miles M.39: an aircraft designed and first flown by her father George Miles. We realised that making large-scale models is the only way we will ever see his (and other Miles) designs flying and wondered if any of your members would accept some form of sponsorship to make, own, fly and film particular Miles designs? We are thinking of the 1957 single-engine jet trainer the M.100 (full size at Woodley) or its Fantail derivative, or /and the 1937 M9 Kestrel, which was the prototype for the Miles Master RAF trainer and, at its time, the fastest wooden single-engine aircraft, of great beauty.
I look forward to hearing from you

Hi Jim,

I'm glad you and your wife enjoyed the video of the Libellula. If you are ever down near the midlands then I'd be very happy to try and meet up somewhere so you could see the model and hopefully show you it airborne!

Kind regards

Steve

(Rob, please pass on my details to Jim! Thanks)
