I'm sad to say that Don McWalter (Mack) died this morning.
I recall when he told me a while ago that he'd been diagnosed with cancer, I expressed my sadness at the news but he told me in his usual style that it 'can't be helped'.
Rest in peace me old mate, and my condolences to Ellen and his family.

Yes, John Braithwaite told me on the phone tonight. An old mate who will be sorely missed. Don loaned me his Wot 4 to take my B certificate at Goosedale many years ago. Been friends ever since. Spent many hours nattering with him, one of the good guys. Rest in peace, Mac, and my condolences to Elly and his family too.

What sad news indeed, I have know Mack (as I knew him) from the Rufford days, and most recently Elvington, Mack was always with Terry Lee parking up the pilots at the shows. Had many a good laugh with him over the few short years I have had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rest in Peace Mack and my condolences to his family.

I had a telephone call from Terry yesterday informing me of Mac loosing his battle with cancer. I have known Mack since the early Yorkshire Air Spectacular events, along with Terry, John, and David, they made the shows a huge success.
On behalf of myself, and all the YOF team rest in peace Mac and our condolences to his family..

Mack was a true Gent who always had time for a chat, A great loss of a great friend. we often spoke about his childhood in swinton as he lived in the same row of terraces as my family (opposite the pickle works). R.I.P Mac.

The best picture I've got is from the Journal 144, Mack is on the right the one who's not me, Terry or Philip.

Oh dear, another sad loss to the hobby, I only knew Don casually from the shows, as said, he was always out on the flight line assisting pilots etc. always seemed a nice guy and a gentleman. Condolences to his family.

Mack was first introduced to me by Jim Faulkner at Withensea when quite a few of us were flying Precident 1/3rd. scale turbulants that would be about 1997 or 98, Since then whenever we met we always spent time having a natter and putting the world to rights. I will miss those chats and him. Another extreemly nice gentleman departs the LMA.
Rest in peace Don......
