phil

what's the process on using pva release agent and mirror wax?

please correct me if this incorrect

i plan to wrap tube with HK film and cling film, (already test does not stick well), PVA and 8 layers of wax and use eze kote water based epoxy?

start with a thin 2oz layer let that dry and apply a 4oz layer let that 24hrs and apply a second 4oz layer, in opposite direction

cut the fabric into 2" wide strips, then use a 2 coats of finishing epoxy lets set and sand back a little

only making a 12 " tube

I wouldn't bother with the cling film as it's next to impossible to apply it completely smooth & wrinkle free......just use the film

6-8 coats of release wax 1st.......leave each to dry 5-10 mins & polish, then repeat.

If you want to use PVA as well......that goes on after the wax (personally I don't, don't like the stuff & very difficult to apply it smoothly over a waxed surface without fisheyes)....but in this application, It's probably worth doing just to be double sure it's not going to stick.

Re:- glass application..........I'd do it all in 1 step.

Richard

G4 Pond Sealer is no good at all for laminating fiberglass. Great for finishing models but do not use for laminating cloth as it will not cure properly in thick(ish) layups .

Epoxy........polyester can shrink a little post cure so a socket made with poly resin may become tight over time.
