Pilot problems

Postby David Jones » September 16th, 2017, 9:15 am

I've built a 1/4 scale DH Moth Minor for my mate, Dave Greaves. The model is finished to it's "primer" stage, and will be totally finished once the test flights are completed. The first couple of flights have been successful, we will complete more test flights with the cowl fitted. Once we are happy that all is well, I will carry on with the finishing process. The model is from the Jerry Bates plan and a Belair laser cut short kit, and is powered by a NGH 25cc petrol engine. Once the model is finally finished I will prepare a build thread if there is sufficient interest.

As can be seen in the photo's, a "life like" pilot figure has been installed in the model. It has since been decided that, since we are going to detail both cockpits, a second pilot figure should be fitted. This is where the problems started. Since the second pilot has arrived on the scene, they have done nothing but argue and fight over who should sit in the front seat.

You often get this with identical twins. The problem will go away once it's painted, as they won't be acting like a "Primer Donna"!

This went on for a number of days but, the last time I looked in on them it seems they have sorted out their differences, and have actually become "very" good friends. As can be seen in the last photo, there is a much more relaxed atmosphere about the place, long may it continue. Should any further problems arise, I'll keep you posted. Or, is my mate right when he says I've too much time on my hands??

By heck Steve, that was a quick reply. I'll have to type faster in future.

With boots like they are wearing I bet the local sheep are nervous.
