saito 40cc petrol

Postby darren langwade » April 29th, 2018, 7:30 pm

Hi guys I have fitted a saito 40cc petrol engine into my chipmunk, I am having trouble starting it it will not seem to draw the fuel for the first start, the only way I can get it to start is by popping a drop of fuel directly into the carb ,this is not an option the cowl is fitted ,any help would be great .thanks Darren

Hi Darrell,

I’ve just bought one as well - a tip sent with the engine from the previous owner was to tie a tie-wrap round the throttle arm and pull outwards - this apparently sort of chokes it then wind the prop in the usual way to draw fuel up.
Let me know if it works.

Cheers

Pete

H Mate,
You have to attach something to the choke Brian had rigged up a pull system on my Chipmink which goes into the cockpit and it just secures on a pin

Cheers
Wayne
