Nope, registered office, as per the requirement here-

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/incorporation-and-names/incorporation-and-names

1.16 Registered office
Every company must have a registered office. The registered office must be a physical location where notices, letters and reminders can be delivered to the company. The registered office does not need not be the place where the company carries on its day-to-day business so it could, for example, be your accountant’s address. If the address is not effective for delivering documents, the company could risk being struck off the register or wound up by a creditor.

Because LMAA limited needs a registered office and as the LMAA has no offices or property, we need to rent someone elses. As it turns out, the most commercially advantageous service happens to be, for our purposes, provided by the BMFA.

Use of the BMFA office address as LMAA Ltd registered address does not mean that there is any other connection between the BMFA & the LMA, or any actual or planned joining up of the two associations.

None of this is a secret, it's all on the 'about' page on this very website.

Would think that a large percentage of LMA members are BMFA members anyway. So??

Not by choice though. If you want to join a club then they are normally affiliated to the BMFA and you
must join the this outfit and pay through the nose for the honour. Why should one be compelled to pay for
two lots of insurance?

She sums involved are minimal in the grand scheme of things.

I and the late Robin Sleight put quite a lot of work into a reciprocal arrangement between the LMA & the BMFA to allow mutual recognition of insurance & an option to only buy it from one association.

When it came to the LMA AGM the whole thing was voted down as 'it's only a tenner, what's the point?'

But it's all in the past now, and all us associations work closely together to make sure that everyone can keep flying models with the minimum of legal interference or limitation.

I would be interested to know what the BMFA do with over £1,360,000 they gather each year in membership fees.

How many noughts Tony? I think all accounts are available, certainly at the AGM...."Any questions relating to the Budget, or the Accounts for year ending 31 Mar 17 should be submitted in writing to the Accounts Manager Sian Sargeant, to arrive at least seven days prior to the date of the AGM. As in previous years a detailed presentation of the accounts will be given at the AGM."

Hi
This is a genuine question .
The club I belong to is BMFA affiliated if I wont to be a club member I have to join the BMFA and except their insurance. Now if i join the LMA ,and the LMA and BMFA use the same insurance company surely they would not insure the same person twice, for the same risk, if they are use independent company's which one do you claim on in the advent of an accident.
I believe you can not in sure a car or most things with multiple company's for the same risk other wise you could make money at it ,and as we know that's not how insurance company's work.
Could you clarify this please
Regards
Arthur

I might be wrong, but I think in the event of a claim being made against one of the insurers, the other insurer makes a "contribution" towards the claimants payout.
When making a claim, one of the questions from an insurance company is "are there any other insurance policies relating to the claim".

Let's hope there's no need to find out!

Cheers
Steve

Yes, I'm sure you are right Steve. This has been discussed in the past. Our club is affiliated and it give various benefits for the club, we had a break in and they covered everything. For the cost of LMA insurance its hardly worth making a fuss, you will pay more for a broken prop these days.

All the talk of the legalities of multiple insurers is mostly a red herring made of old wives tales. It stems from the olden days of dodgy ships that were sent off planned to sink, with multiple insurance policies taken out to claim from them all and make a tidy profit.

You can insure something as may times as you like, as long as all the insurers know about each other. In case of a claim (which has happened) with somebody insured by both the LMA & BMFA, the insurers know about each other (or themselves if actually the same insurer) and pay a share from each policy.
