It'd be easier to turn the engine Rob?

You can turn the choke round, fairly simple job to dismantle the butterfly and the spindle, making sure the butterfly goes back in the same way as before. It is easy to 'forget' which way round it goes after dismantling so take a pic in the 'ole before you strip it.

No problem if the choke is servo operated, but swapping the spindle will result in the machined groove not engaging with the spring loaded ball that keeps the choke open whilst the engine is running I think . . . .

I don't believe Walbro would send a carb out of the factory with the throttle & choke levers clashing.

But if the levers are clashing on (say) the left hand side of the carb as you look at it, just whip the 2 screws out, spin the carb round by 180 degrees, screws back in and the levers won't be clashing on the left hand side any more, simples.

Won't that cause a problem with the drillings for the air impulse not lining up?

It would solve the problem of a carb lever clash. Because the engine wouldn't run, the clash wont cause a problem.
