Going it alone

Postby Charlie Cox » April 29th, 2019, 3:14 pm

Hi Guys,

Just asking the question if I may.

If my club decided to leave the BMFA umbrella , what do you guys do about insurance, either on an individual or club basis please.

Just curious but with a point to the question.

Thank You in advance

Hi
hope this might help
You do not have to be a member of any club to belong to the BMFA and get their insurance cover ,you just join as an individual.
If your club dos not wont to be affiliated to the BMFA and some clubs do not, it would be up to each member to get there own reconised insurence cover.

You could use LMA insurance or FPVuk, but really, how do you police it if everyone goes different directions? The new BMFA database is the best thing since sliced bread- I can see at a glance who has paid, who has A certs, and renewals are simple and instant. Add that to the cover for committees, insurance on equipment, and its a no brainer.

Just rejoin as a "Country Member". Several of us did this a few years ago when we were between clubs. You keep the same membership number and your qualifications ie, A, B or Examiner certificates. I think you get the BMFA magazine every month as well.

Yes that is correct. I rejoined as a country member when I was between clubs and that was fine , still got the mags also.

Hi Guys,

Is there an LMA insurance policy to cover all club members or does it have to be on an individual basis.

Hi Stuart,

Whilst your right in many ways, there is a very good reason for posing the question.

Absolutely!I cant imagine a good enough reason, but would be fascinated by the answer, Charlie. But whatever your club decides, I hope they have all been cajoled in to responding to the CAA/DfT restrictions about to fall on us from a great height...

Hi Bob,

Everyone has been asked to respond, lets hope they do so.

As to the answer, now isn't the time I'm afraid, but there is good reason in my query.

Charlie
