If you've been to any air-museum in the UK, and have spotted dismounted gun-turrets (ie not on an aircraft) I'd be hugely grateful if you let me know the name of the museum, and if known, the type of the turret.
I'm thinking about revising my FN5 model design to be optimised for building in any scale between 1:3 and 1:10 with the eventual aim of producing kits or completed models suitable for large RC models between those scales. Once the FN5 design is reworked - and a few errors designed out, I hope to proceed with similar drawings of the following turrets:
Frazer Nash:
FN5a
FN50
FN20
FN120 (maybe)
Boulton-Paul
Types A, C and D
Then eventually the principle US Bendix, Sperry and Emmerson turrets.
So for initial research, I need to identify museums in the UK with photographable and measureable examples. The eventual aim is to be able to produce mixed-material kits to a specified weight budget and scale.
Many thanks, Tim

Many thanks, that's an interesting one and something of a rarity. Do you know of others there, or is it just that?

Aha! Many thanks, I hadn't twigged that Elvington and Yorkshire AIr Museum were one and the same place!

The Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum.
There are a few turrets doted around. No idea which though. And not sure that they are easily accessible.

Re: Museums with dismounted turrets?
Many thanks Kevin. I usually write to the curators and visit according to their schedules on a "quiet" day. To date they've all been incredibly helpful, especially at Brooklands and Cosford's restoration hangar. Once I've discovered who has what turrets, from the curators I can set about organising some visits.

I’m pretty sure there’s FN turrets at the 390th BG museum at Parham, Suffolk aka Framingham.
