"The EASA requirements for small unmanned aircraft are all published and come into force in June 2020 with a 3 year transition phase. They are better than the current UK rules, as they specifically cater for model aircraft associations like ours under an 'Article 16' operating permission, but in the meantime we have what we have now."

So now we hear that the UK will leave EASA on 31st December 2020. Gets better every minute !

It sounds a bit silly, we were told that EASA was independent of the EU, which is obviously false. I can see why they want more money- "ADS has estimated that it would take 10 years and cost up to £40m annually to create a UK safety authority with all the expertise of EASA, against a current contribution to the European agency of £1m to £4m a year."

I havent a clue what to do re: operator details etc
This stupid attempt to stop / restrict real pilots from flying Model Aircraft instead of plastic junk has raised my hackles to a very high level!!
Well unless i get the exact thing i need to do and also how to do it from the caa, then the caa can get stuffed !!

Mike,
Did you get the last copy of the LMA journal just before Christmas?

In case you missed it, have a look here

LMA Secretary - I've got a reasonable idea where you live!

You only need the one number, example OP-LW9XJQD, which needs to be marked on each model in letters over 3mm high where it can be read without removing wings etc.

All Mike is asking for is his operators ID so he can put it on his models. I can't remember if it was emailed to us or if it was
included in the last magazine. Sorry, it's this s****en age thing again. Perhaps it could be sent him again Rob.
Once he has that he can then figure the best way of putting it on his models.
I used microsoft word to make a background same colour as the model and then sized the letters to the correct minimum height ie 3mm in an appropriate colour ie. black or white etc. The finished item was then fitted with a small piece of clear sellotape and a very light spray of clear laquer to protect while cleaning. All very thin and unobtrusive.

Tony. Keep well everyone.

caa@notifications.service.gov.uk Check your spam or junk folder, around 13th Feb to see if it is there.

Hi Tony, hope you are well. The email came direct from the CAA. I am doing the same as you with the number, hiding it under the tailplane (s)
