Interference on electric retracts

Postby steve white » June 3rd, 2020, 3:27 pm

Hi wonder if anyone can help.
Set up my new CY LA7 with CY electric retracts with no problems on radio gear or retracts, range check didn't show up any problems.
Taxing test showed up a loose wheel which I couldn't fix at field.
Back at workshop fixed problem, but for some reason now when I operate retracts the flap servos go crazy, but only the flap servos, everything else seems fine.
The only thing I have noticed is one retract seems to be making a bit more noise than it did before taxi test.
Any help on this would be great as I have never had electric retracts before.
Cheers.

I am guessing a dirty commutator on one of the electric retract motors producing sparks which are being picked up by the wiring to the the flap servo causing it to glitch. Take the retract out and in a dark room look to see if you can see any sparking across the commutator.

Ok John, thanks I will try that, thinking it may be also be a lead problem, I will try replacing servo leads to see if it makes any difference.
