I have been in informed via a club email that at the momrnt the CAA are not issuing any hight exemptions for models over 7 kilos.Is this correct?

Yes that's correct. The CAA are delegating the approval of flying model aircraft over 7.5kg over 400ft to the BMFA & the LMA, for displays & permanent club flying sites.
It's a bit of a pain at the mo, because the CAA have stopped issuing authorisations (there are no exemptions any more, everything is now an authorisation) but we haven't yet got the authority delegated to us. It's in work though.
