Tempest Plans or Kit ?

Postby chris willis » March 19th, 2012, 2:36 pm

As the heading says :D Now that the Focke Wulf is nearly finished, what next, the Sea fury is going to take a bit of time, but what about the Tempest ? What would people prefer for this model only, going to kit with instructions takes time, whereas the plan is already drawn and the cowl, exhausts, and canopy are already done, the aircraft is well under way, and could be flying this year too. The advantage of a plan is that it could be all bought together or bought bit by bit, ie plans, then cowl etc as and when needed, keeping an easier budget for the builder plus low postage, The plan wouldn't be like the usual o.m.g. where do i start, it would be a plan of all the parts so just cut out the paper and stick it to the wood, then cut your parts out, there would be a step by step download picture brochure of how it goes together, most parts go into notches so cant go wrong, once I have test flown ok then the plans could go on sale, at this stage I would then make an alternative Tempest 11 Cowling mould so it could be built as Tempest 11 or V (2 or 5 ) this would probably appeal to those wanting the sea fury, but the sea fury will be kit only. Please I would like to hear your thoughts doesn't matter whether you want one or not. :D
105 inch and can be flown from Zenoah 62 up

Hi Mr Willis
Plans seem like a mighty fine idea, I have seen the simple construction methods of your Typhoon and FW
Prospective builders should have no trouble following photographic instructions coupled with your willingness
to help.
Would the wings and tailplane follow the foam construction method used in previous models?
Have you decided how many pieces the wings will be 2or3 would be good for transportation
Good luck with which way you decide to go

Thanks Mark this one is all built up no foam, should be a 3 piece wing, working on that bit at present.
