No need to shy off it's really simple but you do have to have a certain amount of bravery.
The way I achieved it on this model was to use Cellulose for the base colours,then I used white Flair Spectrum for the wash thinned with white spirit or synthetic thinners,when it's all dry use a combination of scotchbrite pads and 1000 to 1200 wet and dry used wet,with the Spectrum being softer than the celly the base colours are not affected by rubbing back the white,have a go.
