Morning Den--there is nothing more to tell other than what Alan reported----last Saturday we finally had a chance with the weather to go and do some taxy trials---so i asked permission from Woodford to use the airfield and off we went.We had a problem with nose wheel steering so that was locked in straight ahead position for a test run----nose lifted in very short run at no more than estimated 30mph---so it was brought back for refuelling etc,and off we went for another taxy run---but this time ,with the forecasted weather closing in,we decided to lift, and away it went---no trim changes needed, plenty of power, fantastic noise echo around the airfield---the wheels were left down for first flight. After a few circuits with the black clouds nearly over us,it was decided to land and it came in lovely nose high at very slow speed.Unfortunately the horrendous storm that had been forecast came in within minutes and that finished flying for that day.Several mods have been done to nosewheel servo linkage etc,and its all charged and ready to go again once we have a good forecast and i can get permission to use the airfield again.A video was taken on a phone, but unfortunately we have been unable to upload, its saying the file is too big !! So just awaiting our webman to have a look ---other than that ,will get some more videos this weekend----DAVE

Hi Dave,

Why don't you bring the Vulcan to Barkston, a week Saturday, for their scale jet day.

Woodford is a great place for sound - I remember when I was in the ATC (1196 Squadron) we used to do the usual air show ATC stuff - the sound boucing off those hills was awesome - Never forget the first time I saw RR299 coming in at about 50ft from the left - The roar of those 2 Merlin engines, the sound was magnificent.

Well Done Dave

Just got back from a great week at Binham and checking the LMA website for the first time in a week.

A big congratulations on a magnificent achievement. Looking forward to seeing it in all its glory at Gaydon.

John

With the good weather forecast for this weekend,i once again got permission to use the iconic airfield and birthplace of the Vulcan and many others, and today the pic shows the first take off of 5 flights today, all succesfull other than one of the legs refusing to fully retract in the air----it is now parked in one of the hangars there ready for another session tommorrow---
