Its a multi cylinder Kwakasaki Ci 120cc Le-Tp . Theres a clue in the Ci , a bit like battery coding, ie Li Po, except in this case the Ci stands for cast iron, Lead Tuned pipe.

Chris told me himself that he was doing some restoration work on a period property recently and managed to salvage some lead box section downpipe from the mansion.
After carefully welding on end plates the silencer system will just operate above meltdown temperatures.
The ingenuity of those two lads in Herts and Essex never ceases to amaze me.
No wonder we won the war.

Dont worry Ken, what we do know is whether they are powered by the Kwaka or Zenoah, they will be a fine addition to this years warbird scene.

Chris and Gregg welcome to the Hawker club,i must say both models look superb.I built the Vailly Aviation Hurricane a few years ago, and it flew a treat,and the model i was flying at the LMA events in 2009 was my Tempest mkII also from a Vailly aviation plan, this is powered by a Mackay 150cc radial.Pics of the Hurricane and Tempest attached.
Just in case Mikes reading this post i have included a pic of my Flying Ledgens MKI Spitfire which i flew for 11 years before i sold it to Paul Crawshaw, who is still flying it.

some lovely models there Brian, unusual the mk2 tempest, what is the wing span of each model

Chris,the Tempest has a wing span of 97".Weight 42Ibs,engine Mackay 150cc 5 cyl. radial,28"x12" prop.
The Hurricane has a wing span of 92",weight 28 1/2Ibs,engine Mackay 45cc 2 stroke petrol,22"x10" prop.
the Spifire has a wing span of 88",weight 28Ibs,engine Mackay 45cc 2 stroke petrol,22"x10" prop.
My apologies for the use of imperial sizes,but i was born long before metrification reared it's head in the UK.

After a long time sorting the fuz which was getting a good finish, i am now getting on again, today i got the panel lines on and the rear plates

Good , a few rivets on the fishplates please.
The elevator mass balance would vibrate in a dive and snap off, thus causing the tail to detach its self from the fuselage.
Those fishplates were a PR job for the pilots as they made no difference .
Only when they dug one up and found the mass balance in the rear Fus neatly sheered off did they re work the elevator system.
The Tiffy suffered from lots of vibration probs as the Napier engine was bolted onto the mainspar , so short was the nose.
I used to know a Tiffy pilot, long since gone, he told me that he watched his mate take a direct hit from AA as they dived into rocket a German radar station and he was helpless as his mate ploughed straight into the target after his rockets.
The flight back to Blighty, as you can imagine, was not happy.
This is why we do it though, a continuous tribute to hero's.

Now with rivets on the fuz, i am meeting up with Ken later in the week to finalise paint colours and detail bits, hope to start paintjob Saturday week.

Was hoping to start painting this weekend, so went flying and did more rivets, will finnish bits tomorrow and start painting mid week now.
