This BF109 is being built from a brand new design from Phil Noel. The constuction method is basically the same as the Meister "G" model and it also features a flat bottom wing and flat section tailplane. I asked Phil to design this model for use in a sort film celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. I started building in February and now have the Fuselage mostly constructed and the wings are now ready for sheeting.
It will be powered be a Zenoah 62, Phil designed the model around the engine, including an extended prop driver allowingthe engine to be fitted further back so it shouldn't poke out too much.
Bonzey has the second kit but hasn't started it yet coz he's been messing about with that Typhoon. Phil will be selling this as a plan pack sometime in the near future once one has flown.
I've attached some rubbish blurred pictures(sorry I took the on my phone and I've only just learnt how to put pics on this site) but you should be able to identify it.

Moving along a bit with this now, some more pics will be posted over the weekend. I need some scale wheels for it (5.5") I would like to have the right wheels and tyres, please let me know if you have some. You can also follow this build now on my website fighterfactoryuk.com site is still under construction though.

Emils been outside for a sanding session, not a cowardly Hurricane in sight. Had to cover it up quick though coz you never know when one of these new Tiffies might appear low over the fields and launch rockets at it.
Oh not again, no pics as a big red message has said "board attachement quota reached"
When I find out how to overcome it there will be some more and slightly better pics.

Still need some wheels if anyones got any.

Wings fully skinned and now being glassed, a bit of glassing has also been done on the fuselage. The tailplane has been made and is ready for fitting, the elevator servo's will be fitted in the tail, not good for weight issues but prevents the use of snakes which will stick out too much.

and then there were two, I'am building a second one now for Ken "Baldock marrow" Bones. The pictures show the fuselage being built as two pieces which are about to be joined together. This part of the fuselage builds very quickly, however Mr Marrow wants her to go on a diet so lots of that laminated engine box is going to have a meeting with Mr Dremel and Mr hole cutter.

What retracts is this using as I need a set for a 1/4 scale G I have just aquired?

It has been designed to take a set of Unitracts although I don't think the designer has asked them to make them. I have a set of Robart 85 degree retracts(I will dig them out and photograph so you can see them on here) which are much lighter and smaller than what Unitracts would normally make for an aircraft of this size. The block will take a 1/2" o/d leg, which I will have to have made. The fullsize 109's u/c is angled at about 81 degrees so with a bit of trickery plus the diheadral I can get mine about right. There may be a possibility that the rams will not be able to lift the leg and wheel. I'm aiming for the all up weight to be less than 35 pounds so they should be up to the job. The bigger problem for us is proper scale wheels for an early model with you "G" model you are probably spoilt for choice.
Have you tried FC scale parts? they make a superb looking 109G

Thanks for the info Stewart,I'll take a look.I read that Unitract are shutting up shop, so I need to either find a set elsewhere or knock a set up myself

Steve, The retracts are Robart 630rs (heavy duty) 85 degree and are only $149 in Tower Hobbies, they say they take models upto 24lb but I think with a decent oleo they should be fine for the 109 which is probably heading for the 35lb mark. Mine is now nearly all in primer and I've been making the flaps and ailerons, Kens one is 95% built and now needs sanding, a lot of sanding theres so much wasted balsa with this design, I took a razor plane to it for a few minutes and filled a carrier bag with the shavings.

Glad to hear they are progressing well.
Just some glasscloth and Ramola sugarcane syrup to go .

Still wanted for this project, 12" oleos, 6" scale spinner, 5 1/2" proper scale wheels, scale exhausts and a canopy(double of everything if poss).

Well it's progressed a bit but mine is on the back burner now due to other things going on.

Anyway why finish projects when theres so many more to start?

These two will also get back on track now the Spitfires done and with talk of a mass gathering of Spits at Cosford the 109 should find plenty of cannon fodder in the skies this summer
