Meister P47D Refurbishment

Hi All,
A recent arrival to my workshop has been Steve (dangly legs) Whites veteran Meister P47D Thunderbolt. After 8/9 years of flying Steve has asked me to refurbish this model and re-finish it in a new scheme.
Theres some minor damage to repair mainly to the u/c doors and a new cowl to fit other than that it's just a straight forward strip down and repaint.
The scheme will again be 56th Fighter Group and the same un-usual camo pattern but this time the model will represent Col Dave Schillings aircraft P47D-25 42-26641 "Hairless Joe" although the name was never painted on just the cartoon figure itself. Schilling ended the war with 22 an a bit kills having scored 5 in a day, I haven't researched him an the aircraft much yet but I believe Schilling was killed in a car crash somewhere in Essex a few years after the war.
So far most of the model has been stripped back to the glass cloth, the U/C has been removed and is on it's way back to Unitracts for overhaul, the cockpit has had some repairs and a repaint with the canopy being refitted earlier today.

Stewart,
I have Schillings biography "Follow Me" if you want to borrow it.
Nice choice of scheme.

Cheers
Jason

Not much just yet, it's old war wounds have been repaired and it's had a good dose of Dolphin glaze to smooth out some of the rough bits. It should be primed later this week, Flightline Graphics are currently preparing the paint masks.

Saw what, Willy Warbird? I haven't registered, I've only just been able to reluctantly force myself to register on rcmf. Don't know how some of you find time to go on all these forums

Why not put some of your P47 on this thread Gregg. We've had to mess about with the fuselage paint mask sizes a bit as this model is neither 1/4 or 1/5th scale and doesn't have very accurate lines, if anyone else needs a set of masks for one of these models, then ring Nigel at Flightline Graphics as he now has the right sizes . So far the wings and belly pan have had a coat of primer applied.
