Andrew Crosby & I have had his new 1:5.5 F7F up and running for the 1st time today.......

Built from the Scalewings kit, it has a span of 112" and an AUW of 59.5lb. Power comes from a pair of ZG62 currently on 24" x 8" Beila props. Retracts are HAWE with Scalewings wheels & brakes. Radio is predominantly Futaba digital servos with 2 x Spectrum 9100 Powersafe Rx's and 6v 5,000Mah NimH batteries.

Andrew has done the lions share of the build with a little assistance from me weekends and evening, but I took on the painting. Colours are all water based 'Warbirdcolors' with a Klass Kote epoxy gloss clear coat. Other than all of the small stenciling which has been done with dry set rub on decals, all markings are painted (even the nose art), no decals have een use anywhere. Paint masks came from Nigel @ Flightline Graphics.

Still a few small jobs to do before we can get it out to the feld for all the ground based testing, but it should make an interesting addition to the Fighteraces Team for this season, esecially as we have the 3 other 'Cats' in progress to join the F7 over the next couple of years.

The Tigercat had it's final inspection on Thursday so Andrew & I had it out at the field yesterday to get some more time in on the new engines, sync the rpm's and get a feel for the ground handling......all went well :)

The Tigercat has 2 highly successful test flight at Longhorsley yesterday.......15 minutes done, 45 to go :D

The new Z62's still have under an hours running on them so are not giving anywhere near peak power yet, but early signs are for a pretty potent machine.

Very Very Nice! I just registered today and what a nice source of info.
I'm in the process of getting my ScaleWings TigerCat. Did it take quite awhile to receive your kit? I've been waiting since August of last year. I understand that these kits are basically made to order and any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Kevin

Hi kevin

This kit was the 1st (& I'll admit the only one as far as I know) to come into the UK maybe 5-6 yrs ago...............it went through 2 owners who never built it before Andrew got hold of it and completed the build.

Were you aware that I (Fighteraces) am UK agent for Scalewings?

Yes, kits are basically manufactured to order and do take A LONG time to come through.
