Skyraider

Being a new member of less than than a year, I thought it was time to move up a bit and get into the larger side of modeling, having been to Strathaven last year and enjoyed every bit of it,also you meet a more interested kind of person, rather than the normal, if you can call them that, club member who just want to see your model crash so they can get a good photo for the forum, not for me,
Having just been to Woodford, a bit cold but enjoyed it, nice to meet all the guy's, you know who you are, made me think, I've been neglecting my duties here.
So lets get to the reason for this post, at the end of last year purchased a skyraider, not having a big enough workshop to do a full build from plan, learning more and more every day, I thought I would take this route, please don't think bad of me.

I have registerd this model, the plans have been approved and inspected as has the model, and good to carry on.
The first order of the day was to fill in the hole in the firewall, you could fit a coffee mug inside the hole, not a big job, end result.

Fuji 64 engine attached some slight mod to the cowl and we are good to go.

Hi Jack, it was nice to meet you at Woodford, I hope you didn’t leave something behind on your way back to sunny Scotland.  It looks like a nice project you have on the go there. Here is a little reminder for you from Woodford.

Thank you gents for all your encouraging comments, enjoyed my visit to woodford, shame about the weather, but when your in good company and having a laugh the weather takes second place.
The pic looks great dave, thanks, the plane looks better in the air than it does on the ground.
As far as Auster goes, not my problem, Tommy's plane, my main concern at the moment is the Skyraider, did a little bit more to said plane.
Had a new set of giant scale century jet twist and turn for this plane, some mod. had to be done to get them to fit, some beefing up was required, some 15mm hardwood, epoxy, and a few clamps, and it's good to go, operation is spot on, very pleased with result.

Some eze-cote a final rub down some primer and the job can be taken of the rather long list.

If you can make it, hope to see you all at Strathaven.

With all the rain and wind we've been having in scotland at the moment very little flying is being done, so it's into the workshop and do a bit more to the Skyraider.
The next two jobs on the list are, elevators and retractable rear wheel, have taken the elevators off and removed control bar, will have to split, after some measurements, looks not to be as bad as first thought, can use exsisting bar so bit of cutting, shaping and welding, redo hinges, should be ok!

Next job, rear wheel, took delivery of retractable rear this morning and wasted no time straight into workshop and fitted it, some mods had to be made, first dry fix, we're getting there.
