1/3 scale me109 with inline zenoah twin first flight

Postby Karl mander » May 19th, 2013, 8:12 pm

Hi

Below is a link to a short video I've placed on you tube of the first flight of my 1:3.2 Me109 . its powered by inline zenoah 62 twin with a mick reeves reduction drive. The Propellor was a 34/12 and the engine has loads of power and sounds great.
Please excuse the camera work it was taken on my phone.

Looks like your 109 flies well, have you got any more pictures of the model?

Thanks Ian, re the engine gearbox combo there has been a slight issue with the rear pot. It appears that the rear engines earthing lead from the magneto was touching the steel air duct shroud causing the rear pot to arc weld itself to the steel shroud, the burn marks are clear. This has caused the aluminium pot to melt onto the shroud( i pulled off a one pence piece of alloy from the steel) and then the spark plug has come out of cylinder. Still this is all uncharted territory and so a replacement pot and piston has been installed a new alluminium shroud made and the stupid earthing lead( removed on all my other engines) snipped off. So she's good to go.
I think my cameraman needs a better camera to show off his talents.

I've placed a short vid of the helldiver on YouTube, if you search on my name you'll find it. I've now progressed to divebombing the field and dropping a bomb from the bomb bay it's awesome.
