Hi
After nearly two years my 1/4 scale hawker tempest has flown. Built from a Jerry Bates plan it's been changed from a mk 2 with a radial cowl to a mk 5 with a new engine fitted.
This is the link to the short video of it flying-

Thanks Euan, yes the plane/engine combination worked great, I was just let down by the throttle servo, still no damage done and it should be in the air again this week. The lovely green field is at Cannock model club.

Hi Karl.
What prop have you fitted to your Tempest?
I´m working on an inline like yours, also fitted with a Reeves gear, and I´m hoping to be able to spin a 32x18 3-blade prop. My early tests, using only one engine, seems encouraging as it will spin a 3W 32x12 2-blade at about 4200 rpm, peaking at 7,1 hp according to my Excel prop calculator, using a tuned pipe. The inline will most likely use one single canister though, which will cost a bit of performance I think.

Hi
It's currently fitted with a 34x12 prop but worked well in the me 109 with a 32x14 prop. Don't know what revs she's hitting, but it pulls the plane around well.
It's currently working like a dream

Well the engine has been running faultlessly for a couple of years, I haven't touched it, it's done several hours.
I flew it yesterday and on the landing approach a bang was heard and the whizzer stopped!
I managed to get it dowe with negligible damage.
I inspected it today and found the front crank had snapped. Before you think this was caused by an impact it has a reduction drive so the prop is on a separate pulley.
Anybody got a spare crank for a zenoah 62?
