Hi
I flew my Savoia marchetti sm79 for the first time yesterday . It's 1:5.3 scale,(13 foot, 33kg, 3 zenoah 38s) I started building it at the beginning of April this year and the airframe was completed at the end of June.
It's a two piece wing and a fuselage with a removable tail.
She flew well, she's a little tail heavy however this is being addressed.
Below is a you tube link to its first two flights, please take a look.

Thanks for your comments , much appreciated.
I'm now struggling with my next project, think it's going to be a dornier 335, there's unfinished business with this model.
This version will be smaller than my last attempt at 1:4.5 scale, with a one piece fuselage and wing ,powered by z62s with reduction drives. I've already had a 140cm prop shaft machined so I'll be able to place the rear engine over the c of g. As always though the sticking point are the retracts, they're long and the nose leg goes through 120%. Century jets do a set, though they're not responding to my emails. Anybody with some unwanted large retracts please get in touch.

Karl, the Lunak is nearly finished just waiting for a conformal tank to be made so I can use a P20 turbine on it

Hi Pete
The marchetti is 13 foot span blown up 13% bigger than the normal Don Smith plan. The most difficult part was building the fuselage as I had to design formers for the rear fus. It's a two piece wing and the fuselage has a removable tail. It's powered by three zenoah 38s, weighing 33 kg it flys on tickover. The undercarriage are unitracts Lancaster units that fit perfectly. I've added a little extra weight to the nose as it was sensitive on the elevater. I'm keen to get her flying again it's just difficult juggling work/weather getting vodders there to be a witness.
Yes the camera work is getting better.
Started on the next project already a 1:4.5 do335.

Hi Karl,
Thanks for the info - really flies well at that weight.good luck with the Do 335 I seem to remember that one!
If you want some inspiration have a look at Carl Bachuber's website, just Google his name.Especially the six engined pusher prop B36 - how unusual can you get.
Cheers
Pete
